How can I let go? I have been committed to my boyfriend for over one year. We have 100 miles between us and now only see each other every other weekend. He doesn't call or write me like he used to. He is working on building a business...so we have a good start together; however I am not getting anything right now and it's driving me crazy. All I want is just a few minutes, even 30 seconds each day for him to write me an email or call me. Even if he'd just leave a message to let me know he's thinking of me and that he cares. I've asked him outright for this and he does it for a while then seems to forget. I just don't want to be alone or have to start over again with someone new. Is there any hope for us? --Jennifer You sound very confused, Jennifer. You want to know how to let go but you also wonder if there is any hope for your relationship. Long distance relationships are extremely difficult. Most couples say that distance either makes or breaks their relationship. Does this distance confirm in your heart that he is absolutely the man for you? Or does it make you doubtful or less committed to him? What about your lover's commitment? Based upon his actions, it sounds like the separation is making HIM distant and less willing to work at the relationship. You said that you do not want to be alone or have to start over again with someone new. Wouldn't it be much worse to be pouring your self and time into a relationship that is one-sided? Tommie Nelson, Pastor of Denton Bible Church in Dallas and a renowned speaker about relationships once said, "It is better to be alone than married and lonely." I think you need to talk to your lover (without giving any ultimatums)
about your feelings. If he is unable or unwilling to meet your needs it
may be time to end the relationship. Both of you deserve nothing less
than a vibrant, loving relationship where you are both equally committed.
If you decide that ending this relationship is the best thing, remember
that letting go takes time and a strong backbone. It is a grieving process.

Table for One, Please" about being single. You do have lots of hope…
it just may not be with him. Discuss this question in the forum
