Autumn is a wonderful time of year in many parts of the country. For those that grew up in the south or southwest, autumn may just be the time of warm, lazy hazy days, but in other areas it’s when the leaves turn fantastical colors and the nights begin to lengthen and get crisper.
Fall is filled with misty dawns, cooler nights and warm days. If you live near a college town, take a date to a home game with their marching bands, cheerleaders and sports fever. Even for the non-sports fans, the fever that grips the first games of the fall season can be intoxicating and a lot of fun to share. For the sports fans, these can just be a blast period.
In New England and other areas above the mid-Atlantic there are tours of the autumn colors. There’s nothing like an early morning drive along tree-lined streets where vibrant oranges, reds, yellows and browns paint the panorama with exquisite colors. Share a hot apple cider and make your Halloween plans.
Autumn brings Halloween and for those of you who have forgotten the joy of dressing up, this is the time to remember it. You don’t need to go trick or treating to enjoy putting yourself into costume and character. Looking for a change of pace? Invite your date to dress up in companionable costumes – Luke and Leia from Star Wars, Batman and Robin, Rhett and Scarlett – find something that suits your personalities or is completely out of character – dress up and enjoy yourselves!
Fall is the magical transition from the hot days of summer before the frigid cold of winter. Spring is pregnant with possibilities, but fall is ripe with those ready to be harvested. Whether you take a hay ride on a whim, drive through the country to see the turning colors of the leaves or just enjoy the crisp night air over a hot cup of cider, it’s a time to enjoy yourselves and have fun before it gets too cold outside.
