Once my girlfriend and I were talking and I was feeling depressed and confused about something and she sent me a package with a letter or card for every day for the rest of the month. It was the sweetest thing anyone had ever done for me. The letters don't have to be long, just a simple 'I love you, I'm thinking of you' is sufficient.

I've saved everything from every date my boyfriend and I have had, every ticket stub, pictures, petals from flowers we've given each other and even like receipts and tags from special gifts we've given each other and all the notes and cards I've gotten from him. for our one year anniversary I'm making a scrap book out of them with pictures of us together. We've been together for almost 8 months and 5 of them we have been apart. But the best tip I can give to anyone doing the long distance thing is talk to each other A LOT. tell the other how you feel about every aspect of your relationship and if there is a problem fix it, talk it out. Communication is the key to any relationship and if the person you're seeing is important enough to you to do the long distance thing then you should be willing to go the extra mile with your communication.

I was fortunate enough to meet a wonderful man online. Our correspondence took a new turn last week however, when I recieved in my email the first part to a story describing our first encounter. He was sensitive enough to give me the option of writing the next part, or leaving it up to him. I jumped at the chance to share my thoughts, ideas, and dreams with him. We are now on part 6, and if this is any indication of what our first encounter will be like, I know that I am one of the luckiest girls alive. (Laurie)

Take a jar or small box and fill it with chocolate hugs and kisses or just kisses and put the instructions, "for use when we are apart and I can't be there to deliver the real thing." Tape to the bottom of the box/jar so they see it when it is empty, "time to get the real thing." So you can arrange your meeting... (Sarah)

My suggestion is that if you haven't met or haven't met for a long time, when you meet it should be on an important date and organized with everyone that needs to know except her, make sure she's going to be at home when you surprise her, slip a note or letter through the letter box being careful not to be seen, with a note at the end saying to go look outside, where you will be standing with flowers/gift/whatever your preference. I plan to try this next year when I meet my girlfriend for the first time ever. I know she'll never suspect it and I'm trying to organise it with hre parents.
